Capturing Love on Black & White Film – Newport Beach Proposal
There’s something truly timeless about black and white photography. In a world overflowing with color, stripping an image down to its purest tones feels like slowing time and letting the emotions speak for themselves. That’s exactly what I wanted for this proposal session at Newport Beach, California.
Why Black & White Film?
Digital photography is incredible, but film brings a different kind of magic. It forces you to slow down, be intentional, and trust the process. For this session, I loaded a roll of black and white 35mm film before heading to the beach. The sound of the film advancing, the click of the shutter—every moment reminds me why I fell in love with photography in the first place.
The Perfect Setting – Newport Beach
Newport Beach is a dream for proposals. The soft sand, gentle waves, and the golden glow before sunset create the most romantic atmosphere. For this shoot, we planned the proposal right by the water, with the ocean breeze adding that natural, effortless charm to every frame.
The Story Behind the Lens
He had been planning this for weeks. When the moment came, she said “YES!” with tears in her eyes and the ocean behind them. Those genuine emotions, frozen in black and white film, feel even more powerful. No distractions—just pure love and connection.
The Results
After developing the film, I couldn’t stop looking at the images. The grain, the tones, the texture—each frame felt like a piece of art. It’s a reminder that film photography isn’t just about photos; it’s about creating an experience that feels authentic and lasting.
